textural exploration of color. we so often do not take the time to notice the peculiarities all around us. this collection focuses on the idea of slowing down and finding the hints of color and pattern within natural environments.these muted shades allude to the subtle hints of life that exist all around us.

this weaving explores patterns from the book echo and iris by marian stubenitsky and implores techniques of creating woven iridescence. the exploration of light has been an underlying current of my senior work. this weaving brings that into the world of pattern. the colors utilized within the weaving create the sense of undulating waves of color and light, tricking the mind and the eye into movement.

weaving featuring burn-out techniques. cellulose fibers are burned away while the synthetic fibers remain. the weaving explores concepts of time and the finite nature of all natural materials, while synthetics remain. the material itself visually refrences the human body, interpreting our bodies as vessels that will ultimately expire. what will we leave behind?
